Both burdens of gender and race come to rest on the backs of black females, and this is just casually acknowledged and rarely discussed. The discriminatory and violent behavior of the Policeman are readily acknowledged and talked about, but where is there mention of how his behavior shows stereotypical beliefs about black women (generally manhandling her, pulling her hair, straddling and sitting flatly on her back); that they are easily sexually accessible (including young girls), and that they are of no feminine value or worth? Even NOW had to be prodded into speaking out on the young sister's behalf.
