We made your voice heard at City Council meeting on University City Area Plan!

Thank you for signing our petition in support of the University City Area Plan and corrective rezonings to ensure transit-oriented development within 1/4 mile of three Blue Line Extension stations in University City. We're thrilled to announce that 221 people have signed it! Thanks to your support, at Monday evening's public hearing we were able to hand deliver the petition to Charlotte City Council, the Mayor, and City Manager and announce that over 200 people have signed!

There was a great turnout of speakers for the public hearing! Many residents spoke about the various reasons they support walkable, people-oriented development in University City. Check out our blog post to watch and listen to just a few highlights.

City Council's Transportation and Planning Committee will meet next Thursday, April 23 to further discuss the Plan and make a recommendation that the full Council will vote on a future date (to be determined). Will you help us reach and exceed our goal of 250 signatures before then?

If you haven't already done so, we encourage you to share the petition with your friends and family and invite them to sign before that date! A personal e-mail or letter from you to City Council Members will make a big impact. We've explained how to do that in the blog post.

Thank you for your support,

The Sustain Charlotte team
