Carrie Kitze runs a small publishing company called EMK Press ( Her mission is to educate adoptive, foster, and kinship families. Carrie is also an adoptive parent to two wonderful daughters, a trained CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), and 2013 Angel in Adoption recipient.

"Through my publishing company I have been fortunate to touch many lives: parents, relative caregivers, adoptees of all ages, youth in care, and adoptive families. My mission is to educate all kinds of families so that children can thrive in families who have the tools to parent them, regardless of their past. If each one of us were to offer help to one family or one youth who is struggling, it would help an overburdened system change lives for the better. What gift can you share?"

Carrie created and published The Foster Parenting Toolbox, Adoption Parenting, and Pieces of Me (for adopted and fostered teens). She is the author of two children's books: I Don't Have Your Eyes, for families who look different from one another and We See the Moon, for adoptees who are not in contact with their families of origin. This summer EMK Press will release their newest book: The Kinship Parenting Toolbox. Carrie also has a book called Recipes for Success in the works. It’s for youth aging out of foster care being created with two phenomenal alumni from the system, Lisa Dickson and Patrick Burns. Carrie also advocates with families and children for access to resources for issues that many families struggle with.
