Filmed on the traditional territory of the Haisla First Nation, with permission from the Band Council, this installment is a first hand look at the lands and waters around Kitimat, BC which is at the epicenter of this crisis. The Enbridge Corporation’s plans to build a SuperTanker Port at Kitimat connected by twin pipelines to the Tarsands in Northern Alberta. The plan calls for the pipelines to be carved through both the Rocky Mountains and Coast Mountains, over 1,170 km in order to export Bitumen to China.
This unique media project focuses on a variety of issues facing Canada’s west-coast, all from the first-hand perspective of the filmmaker, who explores the natural environment in a kayak. All these mini-docs will be edited together to create a feature length documentary titled: ‘Coastal TarSands’
