Animals belong in their natural habitat. If they cannot be returned to their original environment or cannot be rehabilitated so that they can survive in the wild. An ethical option is the establishment of reserves which function as sanctuaries with guided tours led by informed, compassionate and vigilant rangers. This would ensure the protection of both the animal and human species. For educational purposes any international news channel will serve to teach about the cycle of life and death.
There is no justification for slaying an unwanted zoo animal and displaying the corpse to educate about the cycle of life and death.
