Hi, I met Vanunu completely by chance when a friend leading information group had to look after someone who broke her ankle. My friend asked me to meet a guest, and it was Mordechai. We were able to talk freely in Palestine at the time and he was so appreciative of how everyone had supported him particularly Amnesty International (and he kept all the cards and letters}. He was a very measured person, thoughtful about his actions but clearly suffering from the imposed isolation of solitary confinement. He vented no discord or revenge on his persecutors but, obviously, their intention appears to be to hound him until he weakens. This highly intelligent man had a special aura and presence about him that comes from times spent alone and seemed older than his years.
We should acknowledge his part in history and support him with our campaign not add to his trauma.
