With obesity and chronic conditions such as diabetes attributed to unhealthy eating habits, we need to band together to teach our children the importance of healthy eating habits. If parents start at a young age and limit junk food and include more fruits and vegetables in their diets, we can hopefully stop the epidemic that is plaguing our society.
You Don’t Eat, You Don’t Grow tells the story of a picky eater and how his grandparents worked together to help change his finicky ways. The book was written for children to relate to the main character, while learning that to grow big and strong, they should include more fruits and vegetables in their diet.
By asking children to help pick out foods while shopping, helping in the garden, having them assist in the kitchen, coaxing them to make better food choices and offering them healthier alternatives to the snacks they crave, we can help instill better eating habits.
