Madhya Pradesh agrees to study lion, tiger coexistence

Based on reports from the Times of India (Feb, 20 2014), a letter from the Madhya Pradesh (MP) forest department agreeing to conduct a study to find out whether or not lions and tigers can coexist in Kuno Palpur wildlife sanctuary, has surprised Gujarat government officials. Earlier, experts had told the Supreme Court that the possibility of a conflict between the two big cats cannot be a ground for stopping translocation as the lion and the tiger can live together.
