Name: AmrutaDhara Goushala, Kolaada
Venue: Shri Brindaban, Opp. Dhoklewadi, Kolad Roha Taluka,Raigad District, Maharashtra State, INDIA.
Amruth Dhara Goushala was set up in the year 2005 under the Kamadugha project with the main aim of conserving; protecting and preserving cows of Indian origin that are on the verge of extinction. It is spread across 25 acres of beautiful lush greenery in Jamgaon village, Raigad district, Maharashtra. The land has been donated by Mr. Krishna Bhat for this noble cause. Currently, we have in our goushala cows from the Dangi and Killari breed from Maharashtra, along with other local breeds and our goal is to be able to protect as many original breed as possible.
There are a total of 150 cows with few of them beginning their life in this blessed environment. Three Amruth Dhara goushalas have been constructed that houses around 30 cows each. Construction of a fourth bigger goushala has been recently completed and this can accommodate 50-60 cows. The number of cows are constantly growing and so the hope is to construct more goushalas for them. This is being maintained by Maa Rashtra Pratishthan Trust under the guidance of Shree Shree Raghaveshwar Bharathi Mahaswamiji of Ramachandrapura Math and Mr. Krishna S Bhat. A total of 13 people have been employed for day to day maintenance and operations of this project.
Shree Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji of Shree Ramachandrapura Math has been ceaselessly striving to wake up a slumbering nation to the need to preserve its dying cattle wealth. Cows, the backbone of India's agrarian economy, have been the most neglected in recent times."Kamadugha" movement under the leadership and guidance of Poojya Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shree Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji of Shree Ramachandrapura Math has four causes -- protection of Indian breeds of cow, their prosperity, research on them, and their welfare.
