On December 6, two couples left Cookeville, TN for Warren, NJ to have a wedding at Trinity United Church. Between us the couples had 67 years of commitment. Because of the benighted Legislators and Governors of Tennessee who amended the State constitution to specifically exclude same-gender marriages, it was impossible to wed in the State of residence. However the NJ Congregation took us in as if we'd been lifelong members and let us marry. He is no longer my partner, he is my spouse - except where we live.

It is homophobia cloaking itself in Christianity by many, but not all Tennesseans. It is change that is long overdue.
