Google weighs in... on the right side of history.
To mark the start of the Olympics, Google's famous Doodle is customized to display a rainbow collage of athletes.
When you click on it, it links to a Google search of the Olympic charter.
This is exactly what we have been speaking out about together through this campaign for months!
The Olympic charter explicitly contrasts with the Russian law banning pro-equality 'propaganda.'
The sixth Fundamental Principle of Olympism, according to the Olympic charter is that 'any form of discrimination with regard to a country or a person on grounds of race, religion, politics, gender or otherwise is incompatible with belonging to the Olympic Movement.'
It says it right there -- 'incompatible.'
The International Olympic Committee's charter clearly states that the mission and role of the IOC is to 'act against any form of discrimination affecting the Olympic Movement.'
This Russian law which targets 'homosexual propaganda,' including the display of any LGBT activity or pride, will inevitably affect the tens of thousands of Olympic athletes and fans arriving in Sochi right now -- not to mention every day, pro-equality Russians.
Thanks for taking a stand with us, Google!
