Mayor DeBlasio makes a great point here. Why should taxpayers subsidize highly profitable corporations through the food stamps, Medicaid, welfare and housing assistance that their poverty-wage employees need to survive? Shouldn't the very companies that benefit from their workers' labor compensate them enough to live without government assistance?
