Australia's plan to barbarically capture and kill sharks in an attempt to protect tourists is misguided and unnecessary. With so many other technologies, either in use or developing, they should choose to redirect their resources to these more humane, conservation-conscious methods. In doing so they will join the rest of the world in protecting not only endangered sharks, but also a large variety of other marine animals (endangered and otherwise), including dolphins and turtles. My hope is that this petition will educate the Australian governement about on-going conservation efforts, the alternate methods available and underscore the need to revise their plan to one that is more environmentally sound.
