Marcus Garvey's Arrest
"I want no mercy, only justice -- justice-- justice.” These were the last words of Marcus Garvey’s closing statement just before he was falsely convicted on charges of mail fraud. Garvey served two and a half years in prison before his sentence was commuted by President Calvin Coolidge.
Since then, Marcus Garvey’s name has continued to be tarnished by the slanders of his enemies who reviled him even in death.
The Coalition for the Exoneration of Marcus Garvey seeks the public restoration of Garvey’s good name and character. More importantly, we endeavor to focus attention on Garvey's legacy and the values that he espoused: redemption, education, self-determination, purpose, entrepreneurship, community and tradition.
We hope you will join us.
