Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, appeared in a family of cowherds even though his actual father was a kshatriya (warrior class). Until Krishna was in His teens, He took an active part in the life of His cowherd village (Vrindavana) where He and His friends and the cowherd men protected over 900,000 cows and calves. Daily Krishna would imbibe the goodness of Mother Cow in the form of butter, curd, yogurt and ghee (clarified butter). Krishna knew the names of every cow and He would play His flute to enchant the cows and villagers.
