Winn's Own Hero of the Year in 2013

Susan Gingrich, Founder, Bria Fund

Back in June we told you about the HomeAgain Hero of the Year Award sponsored by HomeAgain® Pet Recovery Service,  to recognize companion animal "heroes,"   In November, HomeAgain announced Theresa Strader, founder of Colorado-based National Mill Dog Rescue, as the winner of its Hero of the Year Award. Winn was proud to be among the charities selected as recipients of donations from participants and to receive a special donation from HomeAgain as a participating charity. Thank you, HomeAgain!

We always believe it is important to recognize individuals who do extraordinary things for our companion animals, and all this talk about "Heroes of the Year" got us thinking about some of the heroes of Winn.

We would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to our very own heroine for cats: Susan Gingrich, a tireless fundraiser for FIP research.  Susan established Winn's Bria Fund in 2005 www.winnfelinehealth.org/Pages/BriaFund.html, named for her beloved cat Bria, as an effort to assuage her grief at Bria's death from FIP, by helping fight this terrible disease. This was no passing fancy.  Susan, her husband James Shurskis, and her team of friends, has raised nearly $250,000 for FIP research.  Achieving this milestone in 2013 deserves a moment of recognition for this extraordinary effort. We thank you, Susan, from the bottom of our hearts. What a fitting memorial to Bria!

Winn salutes Susan for her efforts in helping Winn improve the lives of "every cat, every day."   To help us say thank you to Susan, please donate to the Bria Fund today.
