I live and work in the North of England in a community that has struggled for centuries to create equality and fairness against difficult odds. I arrived here in 1984 in the Miners' strike and the spirit of the local people echoes that of Mandela. So I continue to fight for fairness and equality, walking in the footsteps of others who have gone before me. Now I am standing for election as a European parliamentary candidate for Labour in the NW, compelled by a overwhelming sense of duty to fight fascism and xenophobia and make the world a better place.
