Northwood is one of only five schools selected to receive this prestigious award in North Carolina this year, and one of only two high schools. It is not a charter school, or a magnet school, or even one of the state's A+ Schools. It IS a wonderful public school program, with dedicated administrators; insightful, creative faculty; talented, hardworking students; a supportive community and a rich heritage and tradition of excellence in the arts. This award recognizes not only the current work of the department, but that of the past five years as well. And, this is Northwood's 2nd School of Excellence Award—the first was is 2002.
