All Hands Volunteers campaign leader

All Hands has two separate projects in operation as part of our "Philippines Response". We need your support for Project Bohol and Project Leyte.

The damage from the Bohol Earthquake in mid-October was severe, displacing hundreds of thousands of families. Evacuation centers were mostly makeshift and the region has now entered the rainy season. Additionally, due to damage from Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), it is unlikely that power will be restored in Bohol before the end of the year.

Since we launched Project Bohol, we have been assisting communities in the barangay (district) of Maribojoc, Bohol. We are focused on house “safeing”: we dispatch volunteers in teams of four to six to brace homes that have been deemed unlivable. After bracing, we bring the houses down safely and salvage all reusable materials so that the homeowners will be able to either rebuild their houses or relocate with the least cost possible.

Thanks to 46 volunteers who have donated 2,000 volunteer hours, we have successfully deconstructed 22 homes, 2 chapels and a school. As a result, 110 members of the community have been able to start rebuilding their lives. And because the Philippines is a predominantly Catholic country, reconstructing places of worship is central to raising the morale and keeping the spirits of the community high.

Shelterbox Tents

We would also like to send a big shout out to Shelterbox, Philippines with whom we have partnered to construct 17 tents to-date for families in need of temporary housing. Thanks to Shelterbox, these families will be able to remain in their communities and will be protected from the elements while they are waiting to rebuild their homes.
