We did it! Chelsey has her diploma.

Great news everyone. Chelsey has not only received her diploma but the $1,000 fine has been rescinded.

Thank you for supporting her and ensuring that celebrating one's Native Ameircan-ness is not a crime.

Chelsey Ramer was a high school senior at Escambia Academy High School in Alabama. She is also a proud member of the Poarch Creek Band of Indians.

To celebrate her Native American heritage, she wore an eagle feather on her motorboard at graduation - pretty awesome!

But the Escambia Academy school board would have none of it. They fined Chelsey $1,000 and withheld her diploma and transcripts until she pays the fine. Outrageous. We demanded that the school board apologize to Chelsey Ramer, and drop this discriminatory $1,000 charge. After weeks of pressure and over 3,000 signatures, we won!
