Well last Sunday was a day to remember. It was largely a cold, grey, windy day in the city. But more than 50,000 runners turned up to run the marathon. The streets were packed, the crowds were as loud as ever, and the course just as long: (!) 42km, 26 miles. I'm happy to say that I completed it. At the start Michael Bloomberg called it the best day of the year in New York. I would have to agree with him.
I wanted to write a quick thank you and let you know where we finished on the fund-raising. I received 40 donations totaling nearly 2,100 GBP on behalf of Lewa. As mentioned before, this will be matched 1:1 by Bread and Water for Africa.
A big thank you to all of you who kindly and generously gave to Lewa this year. It is so heartening to see so many of you doing so year after year. We reached about 85% of the target of 2500 GBP, so if any of you have meant to donate but just not found the time, I will leave the site open for another 1-2 weeks.
The amount raised is a meaningful sum for Lewa and I will be sure to report back next year how it was spent.
Thank you again for the donations, and the encouragement. I look forward to being in touch with you again next year. Until then, take good care.
All the best,
