I took a similar oath December 29, 1963 and again thereafter every time I reenlisted but worded a wee bit different and I have endeavored to live up to that oath.
All you Brothers and Sisters (whatever branch you served) remember how it goes. I solemnly swear to uphold and defend the Constitution against all enemies FOREIGN and DOMESTIC. There's more words but this oath also ends with SO HELP ME GOD.
I also took another one while serving and it started with: I am an American Fighting man which is almost like the oath I just signed. also I just remember another line in that oath and it reads something like this: If captured I'll give only my name, rank, date of birth and Serial number.
