Update #3 ·

TX Crew Team update from TCF- Part 2

Fall 2013 Results Show Early Improvement

With a growing field in the novice events at the Head of the Colorado, the TX Crew novices showed great potential by placing second in the men’s novice 8+ (of 12 boats) and winning gold in the men’s novice 4+ (again of 12 boats).  The novice women also saw greater success as they defeated three more boats than in 2012.

The entire team saw an improvement in results at the Head of the Chattahoochee this past weekend in Chattanooga, TN.  Highlights include greater results in both the men and women’s club 8+’s, the best showing TX Crew has had in the men’s novice 4+ since 2008 and racing more novice women at this regatta since 2010.

Men's results:

4+ Beat 87% and 68% of the field compared to 10% and 7% from last year

8+ Beat 65% of the field compared to 6% from last year

Lightweight 4+ Beat 33% of the field compared to 25% from last year

Novice 4+ Beat 76% and 14% of the field compared to 55% and 41% last year (ALSO- this is the best result in this category for TX Crew since 2008 when they also placed 7th.  We haven't medaled in this event since 2006)

Novice 8+ Beat 30% of the field compared to 78% of the field last year (I believe this is not as strong of a results as the 4+ since they hoped straight from the 4+ to the 8+)

Women's results:

4+ Beat 34% of the field compared to 58% last year

8+ Beat 14% of the field compared to 0% last year

Novice 4+ Beat 26% of the field compared to not racing this event last year

Novice 8+ Beat 10% of the field compared to 2% of the field last year

The two greatest areas of improvement look to be in both of the varsity club 8+ results when compared to last year, in addition the great result in the novice men's 4+.  The women didn't race in the novice events in 2011 and last year only raced in the 8+- so improvement in just racing more women overall there.

The positivity and optimism is shared among the coaching staff, rowers and Foundation as we look forward to increased recruiting efforts over the coming months and strong spring results.

We hope that you all can join us for our Annual Alumni Weekend and meet Coach Rosberg and the coaching staff.  We will also select a JMA scholarship winner and make that announcement at the dinner on December 7th.  The dates for the weekend are December 6th-8th and details regarding the weekend’s itinerary will be posted soon.

Thank you for your continued support- Hook ‘Em!
