To perpetuate Aloha ‘Aina throughout our islands through cultural, educational and spiritual activities that heal and revitalize the cultural and natural resources on Kaho‘olawe The Navy didn't have clear title when they seized Kaho'olawe for military training. They said that they would clean the island and return it when they were done with their military training and live fire bombing. The military destroyed thousands of significant sites on Kaho'olawe. $400,000 was allocated to clean the island. They only cleaned about 10% of the island. There are still bombs on Kaho'olawe. We are trying to clean and restore the island so it can continue to be an active place of learning. We want to one day be able to traverse the whole island and not have to worry about being blown up by bombs. Kaho'olawe is a sacred place where Native Hawaiians continue to practice their traditional religion. We need to return Kaho'olawe to the Native Hawaiian people. Our family helped to stop the bombing to return the island to the Native Hawaiian people. 1. American military needs to keep their promise to render Kaho'olawe reasonably safe for human habitation 2. Stop bombing and weapons testing in the Pacific 3. Support the families who are lineal descendants of people from Kaho'olawe 4. Return the land clean to the Native Hawaiian people
Please post why you go to Kaho'olawe if it is not one of the options above. Mahalo.
