It's that time of year again. Time for the New York City Marathon. I know what you are probably all thinking: 'my God, has a year really flown by that quickly?' Well, I'm afraid it has. Last year the marathon was of course cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy. This year, all being well, the gun will sound at 9:40am on Sunday November 3rd for this year's New York Marathon.
As with previous years, I am running for the Lewa Children's Home (an orphanage) in Kenya. I have run for Lewa the last three years, your generosity has enabled Lewa to take significant and meaningful steps towards becoming a self-sufficient institution that can continuously and sustainably care for between 80 to 100 orphaned children at any one time.
Please click on the link below to read more about why I think Lewa is such a compelling cause. And also please find attached a small album of photos from my recent trip to the home that will give you a sense of what it is like. So many of you have given so generously over the years that I almost feel badly to keep coming back to you and hitting you up for more! But please know that your donations are going for an exceptional cause. And as with other years, Bread and Water for Africa will match your grant 1:1 – for every pound you contribute, they will also contribute a pound. This way your contribution goes that much further towards helping the children of Lewa.
The marathon this year looks like it will be as strong as ever, with 49,000 participants, and what is estimated to be 2 million people lining the streets of New York. It is truly an awesome event.
I will be writing to you again prior to the race, and just after. But do please take a moment to donate if you can. The race is this Sunday, so not much time to spare!
Thank you all for your kindness and generousity.
All the very best,
