During the past twelve years, the NatureBridge WildLink program has given over 175 students from Turlock and Pitman High schools the opportunity to experience week-long expeditions through Yosemite’s wilderness. On a clear winter’s morning Half Dome can be seen from the outskirts of town looming large 72 miles away, yet fewer than 30% of our student population has ever been to Yosemite. The WildLink experience creates life-long stewards of the environment and has led to multiple careers working for the National Parks, Forest Service and other wilderness-inspired careers. We are deeply saddened that our October 13th-18th trip seems to be in dire straits due to the continuing federal shutdown.
