I love teaching sustainability and design at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. It's a dream job in a lot of ways. But I see a lot of students graduate with a head full of ideals and some really tangible skills, yet they end up in jobs that may pay well, but do not offer a chance to activate their passions and the full extent of their education.

I'm volunteering my time (along with the other faculty on this project) because this project will help students gain a clearer sense or purpose AND help them design their next steps. They will also gain some potentially life-changing perspective through hands-in-the-dirt learning about regenerative science and design.

Regeneration is about going beyond sustainability. I like to think about it as getting away from an exclusively "shrink your footprint" style of environmentalism to one that is about maximizing positive impact. In the case of food production, a focus of this five day course, that means growing healthy delicious food while actually improving the quality of the soil and environment, not just being less bad.

Please join me in this endeavor! All donations will go to reducing the cost of food and lodging for the students, hopefully to zero, in order to open the doors as wide as possible to a diverse group of students.
