I'm the father of an 8 year old daughter that is particularly concerned about the dwindling tiger community -- and she's made up her mind that she's going to do something about it.
After reading Save the Tiger (http://amzn.to/18s2FGz) in August, she made a goal of raising $200 for tigers. She started by sorting her room, making a large pile of toys and clothes she no longer needed, and coaxing her mother and I into having a garage sale. She raised over $100 at the garage sale, which fueled her passion to raise money. She has also put in a fair amount of her own piggy bank money…and has since started crusading at her school.
To date, she's convinced her classmates and their parents to also donate money to save the tigers, and has already eclipsed her goal of $200. So she's set her sights a bit higher, especially after she did more research and learned how much it costs to feed one tiger in a day ($487.20).
Her new goal is $5,000. Being percosious as she is, she asked the principal of her school if she could "find time on her calendar" for her, and had a meeting. In doing so, she then secured a spot to present in the weekly chapel in which all the grade school children are present so she could tell them about her new goal, and what they could do to help. The newest round of innovation involves creating rubber-band bracelets (made with a Rainbow Loom), and soliciting donations at the school office.
I'm trying to find a way to help her achieve her goal, and I'm turning to the Internet and social media to help. If you would like to make a contribution, thank you. Equally as welcome is your feedback, recommendations, or words of encouragement...please feel free to leave those for us as well. Thanks!

Save the tiger This campaign is inspired by an 8 year old girl that is "afraid of tigers dying out and getting extinct."
A hundred years ago there were 100,000 tigers in the wild. Today there are as few as 3,200. In a relatively short period of time, humans have caused tigers to disappear from 93% of their former range and destroyed much of their habitat. In the words of Lilia, the 8 year old that has inspired her family, friends, and school to take action, "I have been thinking that if we all can raise money…
