Keeping the game alive!
Just a quick update to share the news - after less than 24 hours we almost have our first $500 (we're just $50 away) in the door. We're that much closer to brand-new, top-of-the-line chess tables and chairs for the players who've made this a proud SF tradition for more than 30 years.
If you've given or helped to spread the word, thank you! If you haven't yet had a chance, please do - we need you!
Last night, I met up with some of the regulars (Marvin, "Uncle" Joe, and Wes) on Market. I showed them this campaign and they were thrilled to learn about our efforts, about you, and all the people who care about public spaces.
Another piece was published today in the Chronicle, about what's been happening.
We're getting the word out there, and we're getting a great start, but we need your help. Please share our campaign, please give if you can. When we raise the money to install these tables, we'll elevate the game and the conversation - literally.
We have the chance to show the world that thugs and drug dealers don't own Mid Market, we do. Our public spaces belong to our community. Won't you join us? Help us make a home for chess in SF.
