How early is too early to sell sex to kids? At Walmart, this Halloween costume is size 3T-4T and is named "Naughty Leopard". Aside from the fact the costume does not look like a leopard, giving cues to young children and families that a person's (even a very tiny person's) sexuality is their most salient quality is both unhealthy and unsafe. Should it make for good business? How do you react to this as a parent and a consumer? What would you like to say to Walmart and other retailers who carry these types of sexualized costumes for young girls?

Sexy and childhood don't go hand in hand - our children deserve a Halloween holiday free of sexualization! When consumers speak directly to retailers about concerns it allows retailers to adjust their merchandise accordingly. All it takes is one retailer to decide to be the one to stop selling these sexualized costumes for the rest to follow suit - let's urge Target to lead the charge!
