Carlo Mombelli, Celebrated Jazz Artist, Withdraws from Controversial Israeli Concert at Wits University!

The South African Media Review Network reports that Jazz Musician, Carlo Mombelli, has withdrawn his participation from the Israel concert at Wits University:

"BDS South Africa can confirm that it has received communication from Dr Kelly Gillespie, a senior lecturer at Wits University, indicating that Carlo Mombelli –the celebrated South African jazz artist– has withdrawn his scheduled participation from tonight’s controversial Israeli concert being hosted at Wits University. According to Gillespie, Carlo Mombelli has withdrawn “as his conscience does not allow him to participate”. "

We know this isn't directly connected to the Red Sea Jazz Festival, but undoubtedly word is getting out among international Jazz musicians, and they are no longer willing to permit Israel to use their music as a sound track to whitewashing military occupation, apartheid and oppression of the Palestinian people.
