Update #3 ·

Growing Support for Food Education in Schools

Huge thanks for signing on to support food education in schools! Since we launched the campaign, over 60 organizations and thought leaders have signed up to support the effort, and over 4,900 individuals have signed on through our action alert: http://bit.ly/FoodEdu

Learning about real food, nutrition and how to cook are all essential life skills that will allow students to make healthy choices and feed themselves and others affordable and well.

“Every kid in every school no matter their background, deserves to learn the basics about food – where it comes from, how to cook it and how it affects their bodies. These life skills are as important as reading and writing, but they’ve been lost over the past few generations. We need to bring them back and bring up our kids to be streetwise about food.” - Jamie Oliver

We want to know what the food education is like in your local schools!

Does your local school provide food education? Is there a garden, hands-on cooking classes or nutrition education in the classroom? Let us know by commenting below or emailing at [email protected].

There are already some great programs already in place in schools across the U.S., check out some of them here: http://www.jamieoliver.com/us/foundation/jamies-food-revolution/news-content/food-education-in-schools-updates. If you are looking for a way to make a difference in the way your students eat and think about food, check out these resources to get started: http://d3n8a8pro7vhmx.cloudfront.net/foodday/pages/3854/attachments/original/1373296020/Educational_Resources.pdf?1373296020

We can’t raise another generation of kids that don’t know how their tomatoes from their potatoes so let’s get food education back in schools!
