Update on May 02, 2013
I've got great news!
Thanks to your help, Global Justice Ecology Project and our partners submitted over 37,580 comments to the USDA (http://globaljusticeecology.org/pressroom.php?ID=639)OPPOSING to deregulation of ArborGen's genetically engineered eucalyptus. These included your signature on the petition, in addition to hundreds of individually submitted comments.
We sent a strong message to the USDA and Secretary Vilsack on Monday, but the fight is not over. We need to continue to put pressure on the USDA and on ArborGen. They won't throw in the towel very easily, but neither will we.
Please consider making a contribution to the GE Trees Action Fund today (http://www.causes.com/actions/1741741-we-need-you-to-help-us-stop-genetically-engineered-trees).Read the press release about our great victory here (http://globaljusticeecology.org/pressroom.php?ID=639). Please share this great news with all of your friends, and remember that you are an important part of this victory. This couldn't have happened without you!
Also, don't forget to think about joining us in Asheville at the end of May for protests at the Tree Biotechnology 2013 Conference. More info at treebiotech2013.org (http://treebiotech2013.org/)
And please consider contributing to the Action Fund (http://www.causes.com/actions/1741741-we-need-you-to-help-us-stop-genetically-engineered-trees). We still need to raise over $2,000 to reach our goal to ensure we can show strong public opposition at the Tree Biotech Conference.
Today, we are one step closer to stopping GE eucalyptus. After the Tree Biotech conference and protests, we will be so much closer, but we can't do it without your support (http://www.causes.com/actions/1741741-we-need-you-to-help-us-stop-genetically-engineered-trees).
Solidarity,Will B. for Global Justice Ecology Project
