Update #2 ·

Update on April 20, 2013

The Meningitis Centre Australia were invited to send a submission to the Australian Federal Government Budget Policy Division in January 2013. What did we send? Here is a snapshot:

"Previous governments have moved quickly to incorporate newly available vaccines against bacterial meningitis onto the National Immunisation Program (NIP). Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib) was funded in 1993, meningococcal C in 2003 and pneumococcal in 2005. Following the introduction of each new vaccine, the national burden of bacterial meningitis has fallen dramatically and as a result of a decisive Commonwealth Government policy response.

We urge the Government to be as proactive as previous administrations have been, and to make provisions in the 2013-2014 Budget for the expedited introduction of the MenB Vaccine as a routine inclusion onto the National Immunisation Program (NIP) for all Australian infants and adolescents."
