Through innovative clinical trials, the NMTRC is tailoring treatments to each child to target the unique characteristics that cause a patient's tumor to grow. These treatments are more effective and not as harsh as conventional therapy. Dr. Sholler states, "Some children will be cured with conventional treatments. But, when there's a relapse, the traditional therapy often doesn't work. That's something we are trying to change."
It's people like Dr. Sholler and groups like the NMTRC that inspired Dell to get involved. Through the donation of funds, high-performance technology, and IT expertise, the company is supporting doctors like Dr. Sholler in their efforts to accelerate personalized treatments for kids battling cancer.
