Update on May 01, 2012

Thank you for signing the petition to bring justice to Oswaldo. We're continuing the fight for a fair loan repayment plan according to Oswaldo's income level, but in the meantime, he's not the only person struggling under crippling debt.

In just two months, federal student loan interest rates are set to double from 3.4% to 6.8%! This would add roughly $1,000 of debt per year for the average borrower, making it even more difficult for cash-strapped graduates to make ends meet.

If you haven't already, please sign the petition demanding that Congress vote to extend the current interest rate of 3.4% as soon as possible!

Another way to help is to sign an additional petition telling legislators to pass the Student Loan Forgiveness Act. This new bill would cap loan payments at a percentage of the borrower's income. For people like Oswaldo, stricken with illness and unable to make ends meet, this bill could make a life-changing difference.
