I am a Martial Artist. I am NOT a politician.
However, the sports that I love, Muay Thai & Kickboxing, are the target of GA SB 355 ( ). Senator Richard Beach is attempting to remove the existing sanctioning bodies from the list of approved organizations allowed to regulate amateur Muay Thai and Kickboxing in Georgia. If removed, the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission (GAEC) would be responsible for regulating the sports and levy additional fees in order to host amateur shows.
I have a few concerns:

1. Many of the sanctioning bodies on the list have safely regulated the sports of Muay Thai and Kickboxing for decades. Why does the GAEC think that they are better equipped to regulate given their limited tenure?

2. Additional fees levied by the GAEC would make the already impossible task of hosting a show even harder for gyms and promoters like myself.

3. With fewer shows focused on Muay Thai & Kickboxing, the sports that I love would die at the amateur level, which would financially impact gyms, trainers and the fight community as a whole.

4. Why does GA SB 355 seek to only remove the sanctioning bodies associated with Kickboxing and Muay Thai; and does not seek to remove the sanctioning bodies for other combative sports in GA?

Sign the petition if you support the continued growth of Muay Thai and Kickboxing in GA.
