Update #6 ·

We do not need to see Elephants in Taita Taveta-Governor Samboja says

Human wildlife conflict is spilling out of control in Voi as over 1000 residents drawn from Saghalla villages, flocked to the Voi Police station to record their complaints of increasing cases of elephants, invading their farms.

Addressing the public at Moi stadium, leaders led by Taita Taveta governor Granton Samboja, say the community will kill the elephants that stray to community farms, if the Kenya Wildlife Service does not drive out the animals.

It is estimated that over 500 jumbos have been moving around the villages in Saghala the last few days, destroying crops and causing havoc. Other leaders have called on the national government, to expedite compensation payments to affected families.

Video translation" KWs come for your elephants, we dont to see them here, you have enough planes, if you dont have enough man power, request for police, Governor Samboja.....Another correspondence...last year we celebrated with elephants, if you see one is  try to be nuisance,  kill it......."
