Inaugural World Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day

Today, May 8th, 2013, is the first World Ovarian Cancer Day ( (WOCD). On this day, 26 ovarian cancer organizations from 17 countries around the world will unite to educate their communities about ovarian cancer and its symptoms. For women living with the disease, and their families and friends, World Ovarian Cancer Day will build a sense of solidarity in the fight against ovarian cancer.

Please join us in educating all women about ovarian cancer, including the early warnings signs ( We recommend that you click on the WOCD link above and read the important ovarian cancer facts provided therein. The WOCD link also provides inspirational stories about amazing ovarian cancer survivors and their family members, advocates, doctors/researchers, bands, as well as women who have died from this horrible disease, yet contributed in some special way to the fight against ovarian cancer during their lives.

You can be an "everday hero" by sharing this post with your grandmother, mother, aunt, sister, daughter, or grandchild. Please feel free to share this information through Facebook, Twitter (hashmark #WOCD or #WorldOvarianCancerDay), or other forms of social media. By clicking on the WOCD link, you can also look up the major ovarian cancer organizations that are located in your country, thereby allowing you to support them with a donation or assist them with volunteer ovarian cancer awareness activities.

We thank you for your time and attention with respect to this important global issue.

Best wishes,
