"A nationwide flu outbreak (http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/health/2013/01/08/early-flu-season-hits-hard/) that has already caused the deaths of at least 18 children (http://video.foxnews.com/v/2081497448001/nationwide-flu-outbreak-leaves-at-least-18-children-dead/?playlist_id=86897)and clogged emergency rooms (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/08/early-flu-season-doctors-emergency-departments_n_2427956.html?utm_hp_ref=health-news&ir=Health%20News) in many states is provoking great alarm across the country.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said that this year's flu season is expected to be one of the worst the country has seen in 10 years. Not even at its peak yet, the season "is stacking up to be moderate to severe (http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/flu-outbreak-2013-expected-worst-decade-cdc-warns-article-1.1235178)," Tom Skinner, a spokesperson for the CDC, said."
This is turning into a particularly bad year for the flu. As you can see from the graph and the map, everywhere has been hit hard, the chart is showing a greater flu intensity than has previously been recorded by the Google Flu Map, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.
If you've managed to avoid the flu so far consider yourself lucky, but as the flu season progresses your luck may not hold.
Get your flu shot today, and tell your friends and family to get theirs. Influenze can be deadly. If not for you for someone you could pass it on to.

Which is nice, but not the whole story. A flu shot…
