Year End Appeal from the Domestic Abuse Helpline for Men and Women
In the US, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men experience severe physical violence by an intimate partner each year. 81% of women and 35% men who experience physical or sexual assault or stalking report significant short and long term impacts related to the violence experienced in their relationships such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms and injury.
In 2011, our toll free national crisis line received over 5,500 from victims and family members and friends looking for information and supportive services. Volunteers donated 16, 000 hours on our helpline and in outreach services to victims.
No one should have to experience intimate partner violence. When someone does, having the support and tools they need to break free from the violence makes all the difference in the world.
It is only through the generosity of our donors that we have be able to keep this vital service available for those in need. Please make a year end contribution to help us continue the important work we do.
Your donations are tax–deductible to the full extent of the law. To donate please go to our cause page on facebook or to paypal through our website: www.dahmw.org
Thanks for your support! Happy Holidays, Jan Elizabeth Brown
