a5c7b9f00b A crash landing leaves Kitai Raige and his father Cypher stranded on Earth, a millennium after events forced humanity's escape. With Cypher injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help.
In the future, Earth becomes inhabitable and mankind moves to Nova Prime. However, aliens try to conquer Nova Prime but are defeated by the Rangers under the command of General Cypher Raige. The aliens bring the predator Ursas to hunt down the humans attracted by their fear and Raige develops the fearless ghosting technique to defeat them. On the same day that Raige returns home, his estranged son Kitai Raige is not advanced to the Ranger position in the academy. Raige promises his wife that he will travel in his last assignment before retirement and she convinces him to bring Kitai with him. When their spacecraft is damaged by an asteroid storm, she crashes on Earth and only Raige and Kitai survive. Raige breaks both legs and Kitai needs to cross the hostile and dangerous planet to retrieve the beacon and save their lives.
No spoilers in this review.

I went and saw this movie in an advanced screening and was really looking forward to the Will Smith/ son duo. Leading up all to the hype I think they did an excellent job and provided a unique twist to their positions. It was exactly what I expected and more.

Great effects, and great action all around and great acting by both of the Smith's. It wasn't too cheesy and provided enough substance to keep me interested

Dis-regard all the negative reviews as people cannot adapt to the new way that the Smith's add to the film industry. This movie is what future films should try to learn from.

Go see this Film, You wont regret it.
I am the kind of person that has not enjoyed 90% of the blockbusters in the last 15 years. Most are bread and circuses for the masses. Call me a film snob, but I prefer more creative, low- budget indie films. I usually avoid summer blockbusters altogether, due to pedestrian, recycled plots, overly explained for dumb audiences, and given a nice shiny coat of CGI. Spiderman, Ironman, The Avengers, all the same--blah. That being said, I saw 3 films this summer. And this one was MUCH better than the other 2 (World War Z was an absolute bore, and don't even get me started on Crap-Trek). Which is why I'm stunned that so many people did not enjoy this, when a movie-hater like myself found it somewhat charming. It was by no means perfect. The father-son chemistry was off. And surprisingly, I don't feel that Jaden was the culprit. It was Smith Sr who's performance was stiff and unwieldy. Jaden may have annoyed, but for the most part he pulled off the role of a frightened kid trying to conquer his fears. The stand-out part of this film was the art direction. The costumes, computer displays, the advanced-yet-natural materials everything was built from. It had a 'wow' factor not often seen lately. Overall, aside from the miscasting, the film worked for what it was. I think more people should give it a chance before giving in to all these bad reviews. Take it from someone who hates everything :-)
The disappointingly generic film, which strands a father and son on Earth a thousand years after a planet-wide evacuation, will leave genre audiences pining for the more Terra-centric conceits of "Oblivion," not to mention countless other future-set films that find novelty in making famili
