Last day to the Red Sea Jazz Festival BDS campaign! Join us.

Dear Supporters,

Today is the last day to this season of Israel's state-sponsored Red Sea Jazz Festival. It's your last chance to join almost 24,000 people from all around the globe, telling Jazz musicians that entertaining apartheid is unacceptable!

Please sign and share the petition. https://www.causes.com/actions/1757955-dont-let-th...

Background

The Red Sea Jazz Festival is a bi-yearly event in Israel's city of Eilat. The festival could have been a festival to celebrate the free spirit of Jazz music, and this beautiful tradition of oppressed minorities. Instead, it is a government PR event, which uses Jazz music as a tool for whitewashing military occupation, apartheid and oppression of the Palestinian people:

"We see culture as a Hasbara [public relations] tool of the first rank, and I do not differentiate between Hasbara and culture." ~ Nissim Ben-Sheetrit, former deputy director general of the Israel Foreign Ministry

The festival sponsors are actively enacting crimes against humanity:

  • The Negev Development Authority, responsible for the ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinian Bedouins of the Naqab.
  • Israel's National Lottery, which provides education and recreation facilities for Israel's illegal colonial settlements in the West Bank.
  • Israel's Tourism Ministry, responsible for the systematic cultural erasure of Palestinian heritage.

In view of all this, we ask Jazz Musicians: Please cancel your participation in the festival.

We ask people from all around the world: Add your signature to this ongoing campaign to boycott the Red Sea Jazz Festival.
