Oct 27: The Affordable Housing Crisis in NYC: Sources and Solutions
October 27th at 6:30 p.m. Location: Park Avenue United Methodist Church (86th Street at Park Avenue).
Speaker: David Hanzel, Deputy Director of the Association for Neighborhood and Housing Development (ANHD).
This is an opportunity to hear from one of the leading housing advocacy organizations as to the sources of our current affordable housing crisis and what can be done to solve it. ANHD has been a leading advocate of “sustainable affordability” – keeping housing affordable not just for the short-term (as most programs currently do) but for the long-term. With 574,000 tenants in the city – three out of ten – paying 50% or more of their income in rent in 2008, and another 447,000 using between 30% and 49%, the affordable housing crisis is real and requires creative solutions.
