You Can Help Human Rights Watch Win a Webby Award
We're thrilled to see our video on the dangers of pregnancy in India recognized by the Webby Awards, which celebrate innovation and creativity on the Internet.
The video, a collaboration with photographer Susan Meiselas and Magnum, tells the story of Kiran Yadav, an Indian woman who died needlessly in childbirth. Titled “In Silence,” it is nominated for Best Documentary: Individual Episode. It highlights the peril faced by women in India, where more than 60,000 pregnancies end each year in preventable deaths.
We’ve come this far – you can help us win the People’s Choice award and raise awareness for this important issue. Make a difference and take two simple actions:
1. Register to vote here: http://webby.aol.com/users/new
2. Cast your vote for “In Silence: Maternal Mortality in India”
The Web community can play a critical role in spreading information about human rights abuses and how to end them. Together, we can better the lives of women in India and beyond.
