YES! Science MUST be peer reviewed and reproducible or any "scientist" backed by a special interest group can say anything they please to make a buck. Look at the Heartland Group and what they did in the 90s. Backed by tobacco lobbyists, they spent years claiming smoking doesn't cause cancer. Today they're doing the same with climate change, while their biggest donors are oil and coal producers. You can also look at the vaccination debacle. Even though it was scientifically disproven AND the author admitted to faking his data, there are still people who believe vaccines cause autism (including our very, very smart president) and we are now seeing outbreaks of mumps and measels. As someone who works in a scientific field, science is only as valid as it's reproducibility.
