Currently, the US Public Health Commissioned Corps serves the nation's health and wellness. It consists of health professionals from all facets of healthcare, and includes professionals such as MD's, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers, PT's, occupational therapists, and veterinarians among others. However, nowhere in this long list of health professionals is doctors of chiropractic. In my opinion, this is a glaring deficiency. Doctors of chiropractic are primary spinal specialists, with an extensive knowledge of neurology and musculoskeletal anatomy. In some states, DC's are considered primary care physicians. Why would they not be considered a part of the Health Services Commisioned Corps?
