It seems to me that punishing sanctuary cities by reducing law enforcement officers' ability to protect the lives and property displays a disregard for longterm consequences. Most immigrants are not violent, criminals or predators, only a proportion engage in those behaviors. A proportion of American citizens are also violent, criminals, or predators. Law enforcement officers are needed to protect lives and property from harm no matter where the perpetrator was born. Then, there's the economic impact from lost wages, taxes, insurance costs, etc. that arise from less protection available from law enforcement officers which is likely to occur if funding is reduced. The harmful effects of this attempt to punish, in my opinion, make this bill a bad idea. Please vote against it.
