I'm a chronic pain patient. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, but it took decades of fighting to get a diagnosis. That didn't mean my pain wasn't real. And to say that opiates don't treat chronic pain is the single biggest scheme I've ever heard of. We all know they treat pain, short term, long term, any pain. Do we need to fix the heroin and illegal fentanyl epidemic? Yes. But will labeling prescription opiates as not for chronic pain help with that crisis? Not in the least. It will make it worse off anything, by cutting off chronic pain patients. Some will choose suicide and some will go to the streets where they will overdose and die.
