Choosing when and how to have a child is a woman’s best chance to get out of poverty. It is a deeply intense and personal question that bears no judgement or input from anyone other than her partners and her doctors. I am a Catholic and do not think I could ever have an abortion, but I know I could never bear the weight of making that call for anybody else. Every woman is capable of and has the right to make that decision for herself. The government needs to get out of the business of telling women whether they should have kids if they don’t want them.
